MORE INFORMATION COMING SOON!

Renny’s Place will be an artist residency based in North Carolina, and will be a gallery and workshop space for emerging artists of color and women. The intent for the residency is to allow artists to have a place to be creative, have nurturing and support from an established artist in the field, and learn more about the business of art.

Renny’s Place is named after my mentally disabled sister Renee. Although Renee is sixty years old, she has the mindset of a third grader and suffers from epilepsy. I became Renee’s legal guardian twelve years ago at the death of my mother. This journey was profiled in the HBO award-winning documentary, Raising Renee.

I am the first generation of my family to attend college.  Becoming a professional artist was a life-long dream.  I was fortunate to have great teachers and mentors to encourage my dream. In turn, I hope to pay it forward with Renny’s Place, by developing a safe place for up and coming artists who are often in the margins to work, live and create art.

Renny’s Place is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
